Product description

Woven carpets differ according to so-called bordered carpets and continuous carpeting (also called fitted carpeting or wire loom carpet). Fitted carpets are double-weave in the main and are frequently given a stiffening. Continuous carpeting is often manufactured in several groups, therefore requiring good filament anchorage along with tuft anchorage and raw-edge strength.

For these requirements, our Supron® dispersions provide finishing agents based on various polymers. Their selected combination results in synergies with regard to handle and elasticity. The medium-dispersed products, Supron® U 2368 and Supron® U 4248, which produce a very elastic handle, can be mixed with the harder dispersion, Supron® U 1148, at a ratio of 3:1 to 2:1 to obtain a somewhat fuller and harder handle.

The quantities used are between 100 g and 200 g dry weight per qm for fitted carpets and 350 g and 400 g dry weight per qm for continuous carpeting. Continuous carpeting is steamed before the finishing to guarantee good penetration of the finishing bath. The wetting behaviour is improved with Supronil® HN 48.

The viscosity should not be greater than 7-9 s (Viscosity DIN Cup 6) and can be varied with thickening agent (Wesopret® series). The total solids content of the finishing bath should be between 40% and 50%. Application is carried out chiefly by a slop-padding process. The finishing bath can also be foamed up slightly (approx. 700-800 g/l). Good antistatic values are obtained by adding Nostat GBF or Supronil® RA 88.

How to store and discharge
Be sure to note that to obtain a homogenous product, with systems containing solids it is necessary to stir up the container before each discharge. When stored in storage tanks, there should be an intermittent stirring apparatus or a stirring apparatus that runs slowly. It is not allowed for Emtex® D 193 to be stirred up by dissolver disks or similar stirring elements that apply high shearing forces.
