Stralin®
Waterproofing agent
Outstanding water-repelling effect
Product description
In many technical applications there is a requirement for a water-repelling finish. If, in addition to the hydrophobicity, no oil repellency is also demanded simultaneously, then the paraffin wax emulsions of the Stralin® series offer a cost-effective way to protect latex foams and textiles from penetration by water.
Stralin® UPA 6 is used as a water repellent for finishes (fabric finish) and latex foams (following all production methods, such as NSF-foam, ammonium acetate-foam and no-gel foam). Stralin® UPA 6 prevents the immediate penetration of water into vulcanised latex foam and improves the surface structure. This produces much better abrasion resistance and adhesive-tape resistance. With fabric lamination, an improvement is achieved in both the handle and the hydrophobicity.
Stralin® UPA 8 is used to hydrophobise dispersion coatings.
The quantity of paraffin emulsions used has to be geared to the requirements and is 1%-2% for Stralin® UPA 6 and 3%-5% for Stralin® UPA 8, based on the total compound in each case.

How to store and discharge
Be sure to note that to obtain a homogenous product, with systems containing solids it is necessary to stir up the container before each discharge. When stored in storage tanks, there should be an intermittent stirring apparatus or a stirring apparatus that runs slowly.
